Meet the Artists
Ross Kent ~ Sarod Bend’s very own Maestro of Indian Classical Music! In 1966, he had the great fortune to welcome the legendary Ali Akbar Khan’s first arrival from India. Ross was one of his first students in what would become the world’s premier school of Indian Classical Music, Ali Akbar College of Music. The very same instrument Ross played then, is the one you will get to experience today.
Joshua Williams ~ Tabla Drums Josh came to Hindustani Classical Music through the Sant Mat meditation tradition in 1994, and was fortunate to find his first teacher soon after. In 2002, he began intensive study at the Ali Akbar College of Music with legendary tabla maestro Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri. Since 2001, he has had the privilege of accompanying sarodist Ross Kent consistently. He continues to learn and grow within this profound tradition and lineage.
Will Rossel ~ Tabla Drums Internationally acclaimed tabla player, educator, archivist, and student of Hindustani Classical Music for over 25 years under legendary Tabla Maestro Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri at the Ali Akbar College of Music. He holds a Master’s degree in North Indian Classical Music from California Institute of the Arts, and has performed internationally with renowned musicians across India and the Americas. He teaches at the Ali Akbar College of Music and Yuba College, and is director of YC Indian Music Ensemble.
Wallace Harvey ~ Violin Began his studies in childhood with Western Classical violin. In college he found Vedanta, which stirred his interest in Indian culture, leading to his studies of North Indian Classical Music beginning in 1993. He received immersive studies with the world’s great masters: Ali Akbar Khan, Swapan Chaudhuri, and Sisirkana Dhar Chowdhury.
Tenley Wallace Dance Collector & Herstorian, for the past 3 decades, Tenley has devoted herself to the study of Sacred Dances from India, Central Asia, Arabia, and beyond, with Indian Classical Dance being her lead love and discipline. She recently returned from her 7th trip to India for immersive studies in Dance and related Temple culture. She teaches in Bend, online, & internationally.
Bend Bhakti Collective ~ Greg Warnick & Anastasia Armstrong unite community through the group singing practice of Kirtan, which blends ancient Sanskrit mantra with contemporary singer-songwriter influences, richly layered instrumentation, and a cultural fusion of instruments.
